The interactions between genetics and early childhood nutrition influence adult cardiometabolic risk factors

چکیده
Abstract It is well established that genetics, environment, and interplay between them play a crucial role in adult disease. We aimed to evaluate the of early life nutrition, interaction them, on optimal health. As part large international consortium (n ~ 154,000), we identified 60 SNPs associated with both birthweight Utilising Raine Study, developed polygenic score (BW-PGS) based examined relationships BW-PGS adulthood cardiovascular risk factors, specifically evaluating interactions nutrition. Healthy nutrition was beneficial for all individuals; longer duration any breastfeeding particularly lower BMI Systolic Blood Pressure those higher BW-PGS. Optimal offers greatest benefit reduce obesity hypertension genetically predisposed high birthweight. This provides an example how precision medicine can improve

The Influence of Early Nutrition and Growth on Body Composition in Childhood and Early Adult Life
There is increasing evidence that events early in life may ‘programme’ later body composition (BC) and health outcomes. The aim of the work presented in this thesis was to test the following hypotheses:(l) birthweight and growth in infancy programme specific components of BC in later life and therefore have differential effects on health outcomes; (2) infant BC is differentially related to late...
متن کاملThe association between growth factors and blood factors with early childhood caries
BACKGROUND AND AIM: Early childhood caries (ECC) is a specific form of rampant dental caries affecting infants and young children. ECC is still a problem that threatens the health of the community and its management is important. It is believed that the majorities of children with ECC also suffer from malnutrition, anemia, low weight and altered physical growth patterns. This study was undertak...
متن کاملAssociation between food and nutrition insecurity with cardiometabolic risk factors in childhood and adolescence: a systematic review
OBJECTIVE To address the association between food and nutrition insecurity and cardiometabolic risk factors in childhood and adolescence. DATA SOURCE Articles were selected from the Medline, Lilacs and SciELO databases with no publication date limit, involving children and adolescents, using the descriptors: food and nutrition security, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, metabolic syndrome, str...
متن کاملMaternal parity, fetal and childhood growth, and cardiometabolic risk factors.
We examined the associations of maternal parity with fetal and childhood growth characteristics and childhood cardiometabolic risk factors in a population-based prospective cohort study among 9031 mothers and their children. Fetal and childhood growth were repeatedly measured. We measured childhood anthropometrics, body fat distribution, left ventricular mass, blood pressure, blood lipids, and ...
متن کاملUtility of Childhood Glucose Homeostasis Variables in Predicting Adult Diabetes and Related Cardiometabolic Risk Factors
OBJECTIVE This study examines the usefulness of childhood glucose homeostasis variables (glucose, insulin, and insulin resistance index [homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance {HOMA-IR}]) in predicting pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes and related cardiometabolic risk factors in adulthood. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS This retrospective cohort study consisted of normoglycemic (n = 1,0...
